The Area
We are situated in a truly beautiful part of the
United Kingdom and almost a stone's throw from the centre of London!
Elmbridge is Southwest of London - and Cobham, Weybridge, Oxshott,
Walton-on-Thames and Esher are some of the towns and villages in this
attractive north east region of Surrey! We are only 35 minutes from
central London and enjoy a peaceful and calm lifestyle. Carry on
reading to find out more about this expanding
community where our choir is based.
Elmbridge is located 17 miles south west of central
London in North Surrey, covering an area of over 9,600 hectares (23,800
acres). The River Thames borders Elmbridge to the north, the M25
motorway to the south, the River Wey to the west and the Royal Borough
of Kingston-Upon-Thames to the east. The River Mole meanders through
the centre of the borough from south to north.

About Elmbridge
Elmbridge has a thriving local economy founded upon
business and enterprise. It has been the business base for a number of
household name companies for some years. There are some large
commercial estates including Brooklands Industrial Estate, The Heights
Business Park and Hersham Industrial Estates.
As well as being a good location for business, Elmbridge is an
attractive place to live. The borough has five main towns; Cobham,
Esher, Molesey, Walton-on-Thames and Weybridge. These are interspersed
with the villages and communities of Claygate, Hersham, Hinchley Wood,
Long Ditton, Thames Ditton, Oatlands, Oxshott, and Stoke D'Abernon,
each with its own distinctive character and charm.
One of the greatest attractions is the many open spaces with some 57%
of Elmbridge protected as green belt. There are 526 hectares of
commons, 874 hectares of woodland and 23 conservation areas.
Some interesting facts about Elmbridge:
- the
population in 2001 was 121,936
- there
were 50,621 households
- the
average household size was 2.38 persons
- only
12.7% of all households were without a car or van
- and
the home of the Elmbridge Choir of course!
